STANTON - Morris Ray Hasting, 78 of Stanton, died Nov. 4, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11am Nov. 15, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland.
He was born on Aug. 5, 1943, in Midland, to Lloyd and Mildred Hasting. He attended Stanton High School and The University of North Texas. He became a licensed pilot and began his career at Meacham Field in Fort Worth. Thereafter, he was a pilot for Great Western Airlines in Ohio, Rich Air Aviation, Hissom Drilling Company, and Basin Aviation in Mid-and. He was also a flight instructor to many.
He loved anything fast. He loved racing cars and boats, flying airplanes, building racecars, and working on airplanes, as he was also an A&P Mechanic. His passion was building motors and farming. He loved his farm and invested his life there. He was quite the character and many of his friends would tell you, “There was only one Morris Ray.” His smile was infectious, his laugh was contagious, and he was a great friend to those he loved most.
He is survived by his son Morris Ray Hasting, Jr. and wife Dana and their children Davis and Morgan of Katy; daughter Dr. Mande Hasting Charvet and husband Dr. Casey Charvet of Austin; daughter Samantha Hasting Smith and husband Justin Smith and their children Hayden and Claire of Midland; cousin Elizabeth Shoemaker and family of Midland; cousins Carol Lee and Fran Hedrick of San Angelo, and many friends. He will also be missed by his dogs Willow and Daisy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; aunt Modene Wilkerson; cousin Don Wilkerson; uncle Dan Wyatt; cousin Bobbie Hedrick; aunt Robbie Hedrick; cousin Betty Sue Hedrick Caldwell and cousin Kevin Shoemaker.
