SWEETWATER - Betty Jean Taylor Scott died peacefully at her home Dec. 10, 2021, at the age of 86, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Nolan County, July 26, 1935 to Milton and Louise Taylor. She married Thornton Scott Nov. 1, 1955.
She was a devoted wife, mother and loved to baby sit and keep kids. She worked for years at Kiddie Korner with Lupe Rivas and Faye Smith and later she and Thornton kept kids at their home in Stanton. They moved from Sweetwater to Stanton in 1964. After their move, they were members of Belvue Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Scott and wife, Peggy of Ruidoso, NM and Tony Scott of Albuquerque, NM, her sister Pearline McElyea and two brothers, Sonny Taylor and Wayne Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Goldie Davis, Virginia Avant, Jewel Stevens, Helen La Tray and Geraldine Workman; and her loving husband, Thornton.
Graveside services were Dec. 14, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater, with Betty’s good friend, Bill Reese officiating.
The family suggests memorials to The American Cancer Society of Midland or Hospice of Midland.
Arrangements were under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.
