MARTIN COUNTY - On November 17, 2021 the Martin County Sheriff’s Office responded to an industrial accident in the 2600 Blk of F.M. 1212 in Martin County.
The incident involved a pipeline repair crew who were in a ditch making repairs.
During the repair the sides of the ditch caved in burying one man completely and covering another waist deep.
Deputies responded with other first responders from Martin County EMS, Stanton Fire and Rescue, Lenorah Fire and Rescue, and AeroCare.
Upon arrival Sgt. Bennie Edwards and Deputy Chris Mahurin jumped into the ditch and began digging to the man who was completely buried.
The worker was eventually rescued and air lifted to Lubbock for further medical attention.
These two men risked their lives to save another. Job well done.
