MARTIN COUNTY - On October 16, 2021, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office was one of four law enforcement agencies involved with attempting to locate an possibly armed, suicidal subject that was traveling back and forth between Midland and Stanton.
The vehicle was finally located and stopped in Martin County and it was determined the driver was armed.
Martin County Communications Operator Jana Mitchell was working that night and was in constant contact over the phone with the individual for several hours.
During the traffic stop, Officers had the driver at gun point for an extended period of time.
Mitchell was able to remain calm and communicate with the subject, with the final result being the driver taken into custody peacefully.
