LENORAH - Alberto “Albert” Deanda Rivas, age 70 of Lenorah, died Feb. 6, 2022. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2 pm on Feb. 10, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stanton. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
A Rosary was held Feb. 9, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He was born Aug. 19, 1951, in Shirley, Indiana and married Laura Denise Mitchell on July 24, 1970, in Lenorah. Together, he and Denise raised four children and became

He worked in farming as a young man and eventually owned his own businesses, including Al Rivas Tire and Backhoe and Denise’s Kwik Stop with his wife. He believed in being a man of integrity and his word was his bond. His work ethic was matched by no other, and he was an example to many young men and women in the community. He believed in serving his community and would help anyone in need, no matter the time or cost. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the light of his world, but he had a smile, a wave, and a kind word to offer to anyone he met. His huge smile and the twinkle in his eyes will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife Laura Denise Rivas of Lenorah, and four children Jason (Shey) Rivas, and Shawn (Jolynn) Rivas all of Stanton, Brenton Rivas of Lubbock, and Sheree Woodward of Tarzan; grandchildren Zackery and Tristen Johnson, Brooklen Rivas, Madison and Tristan Graves, Dustin and Jett Rivas, and John “Buck” and Daniel Woodward; siblings Juan (Irma) DeAnda of Dilly, Linda (Eloy) Flores of Grand Prairie, Juan Rivas Jr., Francisca Rivas, and Savage (Sylvia) Rivas of Lenorah, Mario Rivas of Big Spring, Gloria Rivas of Lamesa, Cresencia Rodriquez and Maria Ramos of Stanton, Carmen (Luis) Villegas, and Lucy (Doroteo) Ramirez of Alice.
He was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Carolina Rivas.
