Wilson Lee Stewart

LAMPASAS - Wilson Lee "Buddy" Stewart, 74, died Feb. 13, 2022, in Lampasas at Advent Health Rollins Brook.

Services will be at School Creek Baptist Church on Feb. 19, at 2 pm with interment to follow at Smith Cemetery at School Creek following.

He was born on March 28, 1947, in Alpine, to Bud and Noble Glaze Stewart. He grew up in Tarzan, and graduated from Stanton High School in Stanton, in 1965. After high school, he attended Texas Tech University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education in 1970.

He began his teaching career in 1971 in Fluvanna. He took a break from teaching in 1975 to farm and ranch with his father. In 1985 he started the Agricultural Education Program at Greenwood ISD where he taught until 2000. He then finished out his teaching career at Andrews High School where he retired in 2006. He was a member of the Vocational AgTeachers Association of Texas and served on its board of directors. He also judged many leadership contests and county stock shows throughout his teaching career.

He married Karen Jones in 1971 in Fluvanna, and they were happily married for 50 years. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a teenager. Over the years he attended Tarzan Church of Christ, Greenwood Baptist Church, First Christian Church in Snyder, and most recently School Creek Baptist Church. He was a good man, loyal husband, devoted father and grandfather, and a faithful Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Noble Stewart.

Survivors include his wife Karen Stewart of Lampasas; his son Jim Bob and wife Heather of Jacksonville; daughters Jessica McCrea and husband Ross of Sterling City, and Jonna Langford and husband Asa of Lampasas; grandchildren, Maranda Lane and husband Jacob, Kate Magee, Braden and Reece Stewart, Cason and Carleigh McCrea, and Tate and Tye Langford; great-grandchildren, Kyler and Lariat Lane as well as numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to School Creek Baptist Church, 11228 County Road 3420, Lampasas, TX, 76550.
