Michael Dan Yates

SEMINOLE - Funeral services for Michael Dan Yates, 74 of Seminole, were Feb. 22, in the South Seminole Baptist Church with Rev. Richard “Buck” Wheat officiating, interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home.

He died Feb. 15, 2022 in Lubbock.

He was born Sept. 13, 1947, to Marshall Alton and Mozelle Bouldin Yates in Hobbs, New Mexico. He married the love of his life, Pamela Hallmark, Mar. 30, 1968 in Lamesa.

He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1974 with a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture. He is a Vietnam War Veteran who served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was very active in his community. He was a member of the South Seminole Baptist Church and also a member of the Seminole Lions Club for many years and served on the Seminole City Council for four years. He farmed in Gaines County for 15 years before working in the oilfield. He owned and operated Thelma’s One Stop for over 17 years along with several other businesses. He enjoyed spending time at the deer lease and also with his family and friends. He cherished every moment he had with his children and grandchildren. He will be missed dearly and will remain in his family and friend’s hearts forever.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerald Don Yates.

He is survived by his wife Pam Yates; two sons, Steven Michael Yates and Cody Wayne Yates and wife Leslie of Lubbock; sister Trudy Harrison and husband Gary of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Emily Alvarez and Colton “C.J.” Casanova, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
