She was preceded in death by her husband James Steward Pope and her parents as aforementioned.

At approximately the age of two, her father became employed at CRMWD and her family began a beautiful relationship with the people living in a small community known as Courtney which is in South Central Martin County. There she attended Courtney Elementary School from grades 1-8. Later that year after graduating from the 8th grade, her family moved to Big Spring. She and her siblings thought they were in the big city now. She attended Goliad Intermediate School then went to Big Spring High School and graduated in 1968. After graduating from BHSH, she enrolled in secretarial science classes at Howard County Junior College. She excelled in her skills being able to take dictation using shorthand and typing up to 130 words per minute.

May 2,1974, she married Billy Mac Brown. They were blessed with a son and a daughter. In 1993 she married for a second time to James Steward Pope. She was blessed with two more daughters whom she loved as her own.

She had a very gregarious personality; she loved people and had many friends. She was the type of person who knew no strangers. She knew her worth, and she knew the worth of others and lived her life as she wanted. She was a child of God. She loved being a secretary. Just before passing away, she purchased an old electric typewriter, because "nothing else would do" and started chronicling her childhood experiences growing up in our beloved Courtney. It was her goal to write a novel so others could read and feel the magic we felt as children. Unfortunately, due to failing health, she was only able to write a few pages.

Her life will be cherished by those she left behind. Her smile and upbeat attitude even in the face of adversity will forever live in our hearts.

A memorial in her honor will be on, Feb.. 26, , at 11 am. The location is 209 w Broadway St. Across from The First Baptist Church. Friends and family members are welcome to join for food and share memories.
