MIDLAND - Marga Rae Warrington Pipes was born in Lovington, NM, on Jan. 17, 1942, to Ray and Judy Warrington.
She graduated as salutatorian from Stanton High School in 1960.
She was an avid musician, playing guitar and piano, and in the 1950's occasionally performed on local television with her sister, Marianne.
After high school, she worked as a nurse's aide at Stanton Hospital.
She married Gary Lew Pipes on June 25, 1961. Gary and Marga moved all over the country while Gary served in the U.S. Coast Guard until retiring in 1977, to Odessa. She was proud to be a military wife and was often active in the Wives' Clubs on the bases where Gary served. When they lived in New Orleans in the 1970's, she worked as a ward clerk at Meadowbrook Hospital.
During her later years, she and Gary lived in Midland. She loved animals, especially the dogs that were her companions during her life, including most recently Rose, and then Lilly, who were of great comfort to her during her final years.
She died at Midland Memorial Hospital on Mar. 1, 2022, after a lengthy illness.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband; son Christopher (wife Pamela) of Fort Davis; son Dennis (wife Melissa) of Midland; a sister, Marianne Dunn (husband Travis) of Odessa; a brother Keith Bailey (wife Cheryl) of Madison Wisconsin; and various nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
The family will host a memorial service at 11 a.m., Mar. 17, at Grace Lutheran Church in Midland.
