Wildcats qualify four for State: Carson, Mebane win regionals

LEVELLAND - Grady had four students qualify for five events for State UIL at the Region 1 Academic competition hosted at South Plains College.

Colt Carson - Junior: Regional Champion in Computer science. This is Colt’s second year to compete at the state level. Last year he finished 14th.

Bailey Mebane - Junior: Regional Champion in Spelling & Vocabulary

Ashlynn Peugh - Junior: Regional Champion in LD Debate and 3rd in Persuasive Speaking (State Qualifier). This is Ashlynn’s second year to compete at the state level in LD. Last year she finished 5th.

Delaney Saunders - Junior: Regional Runner Up in LD Debate. This is also Delaney’s second year to compete at the state level. She finished 8th last year.

The Computer Science team of Colt, Austin Aaron, Logan Aaron, and Sydney Gonzales finished 2nd place but came up a few points shy of winning the wildcard position.

Colt and Bailey will be competing in Austin on May 6 and May 7.

Ashlynn and Delaney will be competing in Austin May 24-26.
