MIDLAND - Lonnie Joe Short, 74 of Midland, died Apr. 30, 2022, at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland. He was born Aug. 11, 1947, to Newton and Velma Mae Short in Sterling, Kansas.
He graduated from Garden City High School in 1966. He married Linda Carole (Wiles) on June 10, 1977, in Midland. He worked at Drilco for 16 years where he met his wife ,Linda.
They owned Short's Art Plaster in Comanche and also worked for Harmons Machine for 10 years and retired in 2013 after 13 years working for M&M Sales. He enjoyed fishing and being at the lake, wood working, good food and being a Papa.
He is survived by his spouse Linda Carole Short; four children, David Short (Jill) of Gardendale, Christy Scott, Cissy Mahurin (Barry) of Midland, and Candy Watt (Carson) of Midland; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Lyle Short (Gaye) of Midland, and Lana Oberle (Gerald) of Chase, KS.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Newton Lane and Velma Mae Short.
Graveside service was May 10 at the American Heritage Cemetery.
