MIDLAND - Chuy's, the Austin-based Tex-Mex restaurant, has announced it will officially open its Midland location on June 14.
Many have been asking, “What’s the big deal about Chuy’s?”
And the cult-like following will say it’s the Creamy Jalapeno Ranch Dip.
Others will talk about the fresh food made from scratch or the hand rolled tortillas.
The menu will offer customer favorites include Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom Enchiladas and Chuy’s Famous Big As Yo’ Face Burritos. During weekdays from 3-6 p.m., patrons can enjoy Chuy’s happy hour drink specials and $5 queso.
Chuy’s Midland will feature the fun and quirky decor Chuy’s is famous for, including an Elvis shrine, the La Chihuahua Bar featuring framed pictures of local dogs collected earlier this year, a handcarved wooden “school” of fish hanging overhead and a hubcap-covered ceiling, according to a press release.
Another big question , Why is the restaurant called Chuy’s? Legend has it that the original owners went to Mexico to do research and they kept hearing folks say, “Hey, Chuy!” They found out that the term means “buddy” or “pal.” So that’s what they named their friendly new Tex-Mex concept.
Anyone planning on eating at Chuy’s in the coming months better be ready for a long wait.
“We have been blown away by the welcome we have received in this community before even opening our doors,” stated Eric Stump, Chuy’s Midland general manager.
Located at 4609 Loop 250 Frontage Road, the Tex-Mex restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner daily, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
