Calvin Dayle McKenzie

STANTON - Calvin Dayle McKenzie died June 3, 2022. He was born on May 9, 1950 in Ballinger, to Mac and Edna Ruth McKenzie. Graveside services were June 8, at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton.

He married the love of his life, Leticia, on May 11, 2001. In addition to being a devoted and loving husband, he was also the most wonderful father and grandfather. His daughter Kelley has always said he was the best dad to her when he didn’t have to be.

He served three years in the US Army and in Vietnam. In April 1969, he completed basic training at Ft. Bliss, and was then stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, he was then transferred to Ft. Hauchuca Arizona prior to arriving overseas. He held the Army Comendation Medal. During his service, he was promoted to Army specialist five while serving with the 4th Infantry Division near An Khe, Vietnam. One of his favorite memories was when he surprised his mom upon his return.

He worked as a Lineman for Caprock for over 40 years before retiring in May 2011.

He loved going to the river to fish. He loved spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife Leticia McKenzie of Stanton; daughters Kelley Pickens of Midland, Cindy (Jason) Roberts of Big Spring, and son Tommy McKenzie of Little Rock Arkansas; four granddaughters, Audree and Austin McKenzie, and Makenzie & Carlie Roberts; brother Wade (Diann) McKenzie of Midland; four sisters, Edna Ringener of Stanton, Brenda (Dean) Duke of Converse TX, Bonnie Bryand of Midland, and Lana (Dan) Ledbetter of Midland; sister in law, Alice Armstrong, of Midland; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Herb Armstrong.

Honorary pallbearers were Kirk Henson, Cody Mauldin, Mike Cooke, and Jeremy Bedingfield.
