STANTON - Mildred Caradine (Lawdermilk) Burchett Hopper, 101, died May 31, 2022. The family received friends on June 5, at Gilbreath Funeral Home. Funeral services were June 6, at the First Baptist Church of Stanton. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery.
She was a beloved wife, mother of four, grandmother of six, great grandmother of 13, and great-great grandmother of nine. She would answer to Mema, Granma, or Grandmother. It didn't matter to her and she truly loved every one of them. Her favorite saying to them was: "I love you little, I love you big, I love you like a little pig."
She lived a full life loving and serving her family and her friends. She loved family get-togethers and always made sure there was plenty to eat. She was a beautiful seamstress and she loved gardening.
She was born and raised in Big Spring on Feb. 14, 1921 (Valentines Baby) to Virgel Edger and Mary Lee Lawdermilk. She married her first love, William Edward Burchett in 1942. He was in the United States Air Force and killed in action in WW II in 1944. In 1949, she married her second love, John Rellos Hopper. They lived in a farming community in Lenorah, from 1949 to 1999. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tarzan.
She is survived by her sister, Billie Schultz of Enid, OK, children Wayne Burchett and wife Judy of Greenwood, Brenda Robertson and husband Jim of San Angelo, Rex Hopper of Big Spring, and Dave Hopper and wife Mary of Midland; six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Virgel and Mary Lee Lawdermilk, brothers Lee Lawdermilk and Edwin Lawdermilk, one sister, Loyce Ballard. Also her first husband, Edward Burchett and her second husband John Rellos Hopper.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Interim Healthcare at 1900 S. Gregg St., Ste. C; Big Spring, Texas 79720 or Martin County Senior Citizens Center in Stanton, Texas or of your choice.
