ACKERLY - Ronald Dan Shortes, 81 of Ackerly, passed away surrounded by his family and friends on Nov. 3, 2025. Graveside services were Nov. 5, at Ackerly Cemetery.
He was born in Big Spring, to Vernon and Gladys Shortes on Nov. 30, 1943. He had a long career in farming. Hobbies included fishing, traveling, and playing blackjack.
Surviving family includes son Russ Shortes of Austin; daughter Danae Shortes Russell and her husband Michael Russell of Lubbock; loving companion Lily Lovan of Ft. Worth; nephew Kelley Shortes and his wife Chasity of Lubbock; and grandkids Devanie and Lily Russell of Lubbock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Shortes.
