James McDaniel and Stephen Sirois represented Stanton High School at the Cross Examination district contest on Feb. 8, at Crane High School. Crane, Coahoma, and Stanton competed in the contest. McDaniel and Sirois earned second place.

Pair of wins guarantee Buffaloes playoff spot

STANTON – With the district basketball season quickly coming to an end, some strong performances earned the Buffaloes a spot in the Class 3A State Playoffs. Last Tuesday Stanton inched closer to the playoffs with a convincing 55-28 win over Odessa Compass.

Lady Buffs wrap up district

SONORA – Stanton’s high school girls basketball teams wrapped up their basketball season in Sonora last Friday. The varsity girls were hoping to end the season on a good note, but Sonora was too strong on its home court winning 49-26.

Coronado earns bronze at regional dive meet

LUBBOCK – Stanton diver Ethan Coronado competed at the Region 1-5A Diving Championships last week in Lubbock. The final point tally had Coronado third, missing qualifying for the state meet by one place.

Junior high Cats rout Sterling City

STERLING CITY – The Grady Junior High boys basketball team had a stellar performance Monday night crushing the Sterling City Eagles. Both teams opened the game with four points but Grady turned up the heat in the second quarter to leap ahead 14-6.

Junior high Buffaloes close up shop

STANTON – Basketball is officially over for Stanton Junior High. Last Monday, three Stanton teams were in action against Odessa Compass. The seventh grade girls game was dominated by Stanton with the Buffaloes cranking out 33 points. Alessandra Glover was electric with an 18 point performance.

District woes continue for Lady Buffs

STANTON – The Stanton High School girls’ basketball teams battled Reagan County and Coahoma in crucial basketball games that had playoff implications.

Buffaloes split district games with Reagan County, Coahoma

STANTON – It was an up and down week for the Stanton Buffaloes as both the varsity and junior varsity teams split their district games with their opponents. Last Tuesday, the varsity boys had a sluggish third quarter which led to a 42-28 loss to Reagan County.
