Junior High Lady Cats finish second in Bearkat Klassic

- The Grady Junior high girls’ teams traveled to Garden City this past weekend and played in the Garden City Junior High Tournament. The Grady Gold team finished in second Place. The Gold team defeated Sterling City in the first game and lost to Sands in the championship.

Bearkats hold on to beat Mustangs 45-44

– No. 20-ranked Garden City Bearkats held on late to slide by Sands for a nondistrict win on Friday. The Bearkats started the game with a 10-6 run and built a 24-17 halftime lead, The Mustangs made a big run in the third quarter to make it a one-possession game at 33-32.

Wildcats knock off rust, destroy both opponents

– The Grady Wildcats returned to the floor following the Christmas break with a bank beating up on Midessa and Holy Cross. Last Friday, Grady traveled to Midessa looking to knock off the holiday rust.

Lady Kats open district with a lose, win

– Garden City started the District 11-1A portion of its schedule last week splitting the two games with Robert Lee and Veribest. On Friday, the then No. 15 Garden City took on a talented No. 20 Robert Lee and fans didn’t know the outcome until the final buzzer.

Lady Wildcats win junior high tournament

– The Grady Junior High Lady Cats won the Grady Junior High Tournament this past weekend. In their first games back from Christmas Break the Lady Cats defeated two teams to win the championship. In the first round Grady downed Loop 24-12.

Blue Devils top Buffaloes in district contest

– The Stanton High School boys’ basketball teams had a rough night last Friday falling to district opponent Presidio. The junior varsity Buffaloes opened the day with a very close contest with the Blue Devils.

Grady basketball is back following Christmas break

GRADY- The Grady Lady Cats played four games over the holiday break going 2-2 in those games. In the first game right out of the break the Lady Cats traveled to Ira and came away with a 47-29 victory. The Lady Cats then travel to Sterling City for the Sterling City Invitational Tournament.

Lady Buffs pick up two district wins

- The Stanton varsity girls basketball team picked up two district victories just before the Christmas Break. The first win came on Dec. 15 against Tornillo. The Lady Buffs defense was outstanding holding Tornillo scoreless through the first three quarters and allowing just five points all game.

Wildcats fall to Eagles in defensive battle

GRADY – The Grady Wildcats hosted Sterling City on Dec. 12, and had a chance at revenge after losing to the Eagles at the Bearkat Klassic. Both teams really amped up the defense and did not allow any easy baskets.
