Animal Welfare Group Monitoring Alleged Cockfighting Ring in Stanton

- An international animal welfare group is raising the alarm about what it says is an illegal cockfighting operation in Martin County. Showing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK), an Illinois-based organization, claims it has captured evidence of an illegal operation.

Bearkats crowned Region II Champions

- The Garden City Bearkats’dream basketball season continues after the Bearkats beat the Water Valley Wildcats to win the Region II-A DI championship on Friday at the Junnell Center at Angelo State University.

TSTA opens 2025 scholarship applications

ROUND ROCK – The Texas State Troopers Association (TSTA) is pleased to announce that the application period for the 2025 TSTA Scholarship Program has opened and will run through May 30, 2025.This year, TSTA will award ten scholarships of $500 each to deserving students pursuing higher education.

William “Pete” Lewis, 86, of Pinon, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, February 13th, 2025, at Goodlife Assisted Living, inCarlsbad, NM. A Graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 AM, Friday, February 21st, 2025, at Cienega Cemetery, Dell City, Texas.
