GILMER - Dorothy May Langford Smith, 93, passed away peacefully on Sept. 7, 2026, at Wesley House Memory Care in Gilmer.
Dorothy was born Nov. 12, 1932, in Rankin, to Calvin J. Langford and Louise RuSelle Josey Langford.
She married Albert Jackson Smith on Sept. 7, 1952, in Wink. Together, they shared 70 years of marriage and raised two children, Carol Ann and Jack Allan.
Dorothy was a Registered Nurse who spent several years caring for students as a school nurse with Stanton ISD. A woman of Baptist faith, she supported her local church and enjoyed sewing. She will be remembered for her sweet, gentle spirit and caring nature. Family held a special place in her heart, and the love she gave extended through generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin J. Langford and Louise RuSelle Josey Langford; her husband, Albert Jackson Smith; her brothers, Floyd Langford and Calvin Langford; her sister, Charlotte Holloway; her son-in-law, Ty Reich; and her daughter-in-law, Teresa Ann Oldaker Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Carol Reich; son, Jack Smith; granddaughter, Michelle Grove and husband Rich; great-grandchildren, Christina Grove, Kevin Grove and wife Aricka, Ryker Grove and wife Lexus, and Tyler Grove; great-great-grandchildren, Karys, Aria, Kimi, and Kayden; brother, Johnny Langford and wife Patty; sisterin- law, Patsy Langford; dear family friend, Judy Parish; and numerous nieces and nephews.
No services are planned. Dorothy’s ashes will be laid to rest with her husband in Kermit, at a later date.
Although her family will deeply feel her absence, the love and care she gave throughout her long life will remain her legacy.
