Ag census shows Texas lost over 17,700 farms

- Texas farmland declined by more than 1.6 million acres with a loss of over 17,700 farms, according to the latest Census of Agriculture. As of 2022, there were 125,417,325 acres of Texas land dedicated to farming and ranching compared to 127,036,184 five years ago.

Stanton first grader performs heroic act saving grandfather’s life

- A Stanton child came to the rescue recently when a dog jumped a fence and began attacking his grandfather.
The Stanton High School Spanish Club won the Best Tasting Soup with their pozole at the 34th Annual Great Texas Soup Cookoff as voted on by the guest judges. Pictured are convent board president Reggie Baker, Spanish Club sponsor Adrian Padilla, club members Ernesto Gonzales, Jacob Nollola, Jason Salgado, and JC Hernandez, and convent executive director Regina Hunt.

TDLR Rolls Out Refreshed, More User-Friendly Agency Website

– The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has launched a modernized and updated website (www.tdlr. texas.gov) designed to make it easier and faster for users to locate the information they need.
Prestyn Borgstedt exhibited the Champion Hereford at the San Antonio Livestock Market Steer Show. She had the opportunity to present her steer, Stevie, during the Grand Drive during the Friday Rodeo. She also participated in the Youth Auction. Stevie was raised by Jody and DeAnn Yates from Tarzan.

Cotton futures rally to highest level since September 2022

Cotton prices climbed sharply, making an 18-month high, despite a decline in the overall commodity complex and bearish outside market data. Bullish technical signals increased buying, helping boost prices. March futures settled at 94.63 cents per pound, up 553 points for the week.
