Sheriff candidate Randy Cozart found himself unexpectedly surprised this week - it turns out he has a namesake who lives in Ft. Worth. Cozart was driving along Highway 80 when he saw someone pulled over taking a picture of one of his 4’ X 8’ “Elect Randy Cozart for Martin County Sheriff” signs.
Sisters from the Congregation of Divine Providence in San Antonio and Midland were the honorary judges for the 34th Annual Great Texas Soup Cook-off. Their congregation is the same one that was as the convent in 1888. Pictured are Sister Kate Fitzgerald, Sister Christina Chavez, and Sister Elsa Garcia.

Annual soup cook-off once again a huge success

- The 34th Annual Great Texas Soup Cook-off was a huge success with hundreds of hungry soups judges attending the event. The Martin County Community Center was packed from wall to wall with almost 20 soup vendors and what many are calling the largest crowd in the event’s 34-year history.
