Water District Announces 2024 Scholarship Contest

STANTON- The Permian Basin Underground Water Conservation District is proud to be sponsoring their annual scholarship essay contest for graduating seniors who are planning to attend college or trade school.

Soup cookoff and auction next weekend

It’s time to make the final tweaks to your soup recipe as the 34th Annual Great Texas Soup Cook-Off is next weekend on Feb. 24 at the Martin County Community Center from 5-7 p.m. A dessert auction will follow the soup tasting while votes are tabulated.

Glasscock sheriff releases stats for month of January

GLASSCOCK COUNTY– The Glasscock County Sheriff’s Office has released its citation numbers and calls for service for the month of January.

Early voting is just around the corner, know when and where to go

It’s nearly time to get out and let your voices be heard by choosing your favorite candidate for office. Early Voting will begin Feb. 20 and run through Mar. 1. Election Day will be Tuesday, Mar. 5, 2024.

Law enforcement stays busy, county jail accepts more holds

MARTIN COUNTY– February is already off to a busy start for local law enforcement with multiple arrests and inmate transfers. The arrests started on Feb. 1 when Texas DPS Troopers brought in Carlos Bennett, 34 of Stanton, on the charge of Fail to Comply Sex Offenders Duty to Register 10 years.

Two new structures

Two new structures are being constructed at the 1884 Plaza in Stanton. The concrete foundation was poured this week for the future St. Joseph’s Chapel.
