STANTON - Glee Ann Holcombe, also known as Memaw, a retired hairdresser and resident of Stanton, died unexpectedly in her home on June 25, 2020 at the age of 59.
She was born in Stanton on Dec. 18, 1960 to Jimmy Henson and Virginia James.
Growing up in Stanton, she loved to ride her horse through town and her horse was her favorite means of transportation until she received her driver’s license.
In 1977 she married Donny Gallagher of Midland and had two children, Jimmy (J.C.) Gallagher and Jennifer Gallagher.
In 1987 she was remarried to Kerry Holcombe of Stanton. Theymoved to Kerrville, where she continued her career as a hairdresser before later moving to New Braunfels, where she lived for many years and retired from hair dressing. In 2019 she moved back to Stanton to be close to her mother Virginia.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Above everything else, family was first in her life. She would frequently travel to see her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was also an avid church goer her entire life. She would attend Sunday morning service with her mother and visit the Senior Center for lunches and dinners in Stanton. Shee will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all that knew and loved her. She was always a ray of light and could talk to anyone for hours.
She is survived by her mother, Virginia James; step-father Chuck James; brothers, Randy Henson and Ronnie Henson; son, J.C. Gallagher; daughter Jen Gallagher; grandchildren, Maddi, Kyra, Coursen, Kris, and great-grandchildren Analeigha and Roman; nieces Sharon Reid and Melissa Leiker; nephews Daniel Henson and Tony Henson; and numerous “honorary grandchildren” that loved her as if she were their own grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Henson; stepmother Janet Henson; husband Kerry Holcombe; and nephew Clayton Henson.
A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church in Stanton on July 1.
