PAMPA - Joel Valdez Hernandez, 49 of Pampa died Dec. 19, 2020 in Pampa.
Rosary services were Dec. 22, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Father Francisco Perez officiating.
Funeral mass was Dec. 23, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Taylor Elzner officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
He was born on April 6, 1971 in Big Spring to Espiridon Torres and Filomena Lerma Valdez Hernandez. He moved from Stanton to Pampa in 1988. Joel was member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He met Jackie Auringer on July 3, 2019 and they have been together ever since.
He enjoyed working on his cars, his house, spending time with friends, and taking care of his family. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted man that gave even when he had nothing left.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Maria O. Hernandez Bay, Lucy Ann Hernandez, and Ephiana Hernandez.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Jackie Auringer of the home; four sisters, Ramona Perez, Sofia Rodriguez and husband Ray, Rosalinda Saenz and husband Adan Jr., and Rosario Anguiano and husband Javier, all of Pampa; five nieces, Rosio Rios, Terry Hernandez, Amanda Chavarria, Amber Chavarria, and Lucy Ruiz, all of Pampa; 5 nephews, Celestino Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, Joe Rodriguez, and Louis Rodriguez, all of Stanton and Alex Mendoza of Pampa; four great-nephews; five great-nieces; and numerous friends.
