BIG SPRING - Iris Elizabeth “Beth” Peters, 65 of Big Spring, died Jan. 16, 2021, in Lubbock, surrounded by her loved ones.
A viewing was Jan. 19, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring and funeral services were Jan. 20 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring. Interment followed at Lone Wolf Cemetery in Loraine.
She was born Nov. 10, 1955, in Loraine to parents Willie and Iris (Isbell) Phillips.
She spent her early years in Colorado City and Knot before the family settled in Big Spring where she grew up and graduated from Big Spring High School in 1974.
Her boys were her world and she was a hard working single mother who always did whatever was needed to make sure they were well taken care of. This included putting herself through nursing school where she graduated from the Howard College LVN program in September of 1988.
In her 33 years of nursing she took care of and touched the lives of countless patients and coworkers while working in the Big Spring area. She spent her career at Scenic Mountain Medical Center, Home Health, and most recently 18 years proudly serving the Veterans at the VA Hospital. Though she loved nursing and caring for people she was excited to be two weeks away from retirement.
She is survived by her four loving sons Josh Peters and wife Kathleen of La Porte, John Peters and wife Tiffany of Stanton, Jeremiah Peters of Big Spring, and Sean Peters and wife Valerie of Big Spring. Her legacy is carried on by her grandchildren whom she was so proud of Jane Cantrell, Jaxon Peters, Braelyn Peters, Kaden Peters, Cason Barnett, Levi Peters, and Loraine Peters.
She is also survived by her siblings Ray Phillips of Big Spring, Martha Watson of Victoria, and Carol Phillips of Decatur, AL. Her best friends for life and honorary sisters Jackie Platte and husband Larry of Big Spring and Sandra Perez and husband Romero of Lubbock will carry on her memory. She will be lovingly remembered by many including an aunt, several cousins, nieces and nephews and close family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Nancy Phillips, and a brother John Phillips.
