MIDLAND - Clara Mize Gleghorn, 81 of Midland, died Dec. 22, 2021, at home. She was born Apr. 26, 1940, in McAdoo, to Lester Doyle Mize and Lona May Bradley.
She graduated from Lamesa High School in 1958. She worked in the oil and gas industry for many years at Kent Oil Company and then Parker & Parsley, now Pioneer Natural Resources Company.
She was married to the love of her life, Donald Royce Gleghorn, for 64 years. They were married on May 4, 1957, in Lamesa. She was a member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and was an active member of the Hope Community Baptist Church. In her spare time, she loved to read, sew, and craft. Her most beloved past time though was spending time with all her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father Lester Doyle Mize, mother Lona May Bradley, and her stepfather Samuel L. Bradley.
She is survived by her loving husband Donald Royce Gleghorn of Midland; brother Lester Doyle Mize of Pilot Point; sons Lester Don Gleghorn and wife Rayleen of Denton, and Royce Lee Gleghorn and wife Annette of Midland; five grandchildren, Coby Lynn Gleghorn and wife Amanda of Stanton, Nicholas Lee Gleghorn, Madison Rene Pope and husband Scotty, Katie Ruth Gleghorn, and Lindsey Jo Gleghorn, all of Midland; nine great grandchildren, Hope Gleghorn, Coby Gleghorn, Wyatt Gleghorn, Briley Pope, August Pope, Emma Gleghorn, Cayzlie Pope, Gunner Gleghorn, and Maze Gleghorn.
A Memorial Service was Jan. 5 at the Hope Community Church with Pastor John Slaydon presiding.
