RICHARDSON - Eva Kay Harvey, 77, died July 4, 2022, in Richardson.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
She was born on May 29, 1945, in Denton, and adopted by O.B. Bryan and Johnnie Bess Richardson Bryan of Stanton, on June 1, 1945. She graduated Stanton High School in 1963 and graduated Texas Tech University in 1968 with a double major in home economics and early childhood education. While at Texas Tech, she sang in the Tech Choir, was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and was on the Dean’s List.
She married Lloyd Edward Harvey on May 31, 1968, in Stanton. They lived in San Diego, California, Okinawa, Japan, and Houston, before moving to Pampa in 1974.
She worked as a teacher for Pampa ISD until retirement in 2004. She earned a Master of Education degree from West Texas State University in 1981. She won the Outstanding Elementary Science Teacher Award from Texas A&M University in 1984, served as regional director of the Texas Association of Elementary Science Teachers, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma an international society for professional women educators. Additionally, she was a member and chapter President of PEO International, a philanthropic organization for the advancement of women.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. As a member of the Weatherly Sunday School Class, she also taught Sunday School, served as chairman of the FUMC 100th Anniversary Celebration, served as the President of United Methodist Women, and served on the Council of Family Ministries.
For several years, she served as the Director of Camp Alphie, a summer camp for children with cancer. She served on the Board of Directors of Latch Key, was a member of the Pampa Garden Club, served as Pampa Panhellenic President, was a member of Pampa Education Foundation and a member of Pampa Fine Arts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, O.B. and Johnnie Bess Bryan; her husband, Lloyd Harvey; her brother, Bobby Bryan; and her sister, Linda Bess Angel.
She is survived by her two children Angela Trelford and husband John Trelford of Richardson and Rankin Harvey and wife Jennifer Harvey of Kremmling, Colorado; one grandchild Maisie Cate Harvey; and a host of other family members and friends.
