MIDLAND - Basilisa “Bessie” Estrada, 89 of Midland, died Nov. 22, 2022 at 11:14 pm after a short illness at Midland Memorial Hospital. She was born on Jan. 9, 1933 in Goliad, to Pedro and Modesta Estrada. The family moved to the Martin County area around 1939.
She became an LVN in 1954 and worked at Martin County Hospital for several years and then moved to Midland Memorial Hospital. After several more years, she moved on to work at the State of Texas Health Department until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Modesta Estrada; sisters Mary Ramos and Frances McCain; seven brothers, and three nephews.
She is survived by one sister Lupe Chronister of Pearland; 23 nieces and nephews; some grand nieces and nephews; and a few great grand nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was Nov. 29, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
