Juan Michael Cervantes

BIG SPRING - Juan Michael Cervantes, 70 of Big Spring, died Dec. 24, 2022. He lain in state Dec. 28, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rosary Service that night. Funeral Mass was Dec. 29, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with interment at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

He was born May 16, 1952, in Big Spring, to Jessie (Ontiveros) and Jesse Cervantes. He was a lifelong resident of Big Spring. He had worked for Diamond Seed Corporation for about 11 years and for Charles Construction for 18 years.

He was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. He was a baseball and football fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed singing to them and joking around with them. He was involved with their sporting events as well.

He is survived by two sons John Cervantes and Arthur Cervantes, both of Big Spring; and one daughter Christina Whitley of Stanton; four grandchildren; two sisters Rosario Medrano of Big Spring and Lucy Robles of Boomer, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Martha Cervantes in 2003; two brothers Oscar Cervantes and CQ Cervantes and one sister Mary Helen Doporto.

Pallbearers were Aissa Cervantes, Erica Cervantes, Michelle Irvin-Ruth, Paul Diaz, Carlos Diaz, Danny Doporto and Michael Doporto. Honorary pallbearers were Mia Melendez, Alma Gusman and Adiel Melendez.

Arrangements were under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
