Billy Loyd Mims

SAN ANGELO - Billy Loyd Mims, 88, died Mar. 12, 2023, at The Springs Memory Care in San Angelo. Graveside services will be at 11:00 am, Mar. 16, at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring. She was born May 9, 1934, in Stamford, to Annice and J.T. Mims. He married Marlene Kay Mims on Dec. 3, 1955. He graduated from Stanton High School. He spent a short stint in the U.S. Army in 1957 before being honorably discharged to work on the family farm. He worked at Cap Rock Electric for a number of years before buying M&M Meter. He sold the meter shop and returned to the family farm until retiring. Loyd and Kay lived most of their life in Stanton, before moving to San Angelo, in 2007. He was an active member of the Church of Christ. He and Kay loved camping in their travel trailer, going from the coast to the mountains. He enjoyed going catfishing and running trot lines. He loved catching the big fish. He also liked to play baseball and softball.

He is survived by four sons Rickey Mims, Ronnie Mims, Russell Mims, and Robert Mims; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and a sister Lorece Avery.

He was proceeded in death by his wife of 67 years Kay Mims, a brother Lawrence Lowrance, and parents Annice and J.T. Mims.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Cherokee Home for Children, PO Box 295, Cherokee, TX 76832.
