Loveta Pope

PAMPA - Loveta Pope, 84 of Pampa, died Mar. 31, 2023, in Pampa, surrounded by her family. Graveside services were Apr. 4, at the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Nathan Bailey, elder of the Somerville St. Church of Christ, officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory. She was born on Mar. 7, 1939, in Stanton, to Willie and Juanita Hull. On Apr. 2, 1955, she married the love of her life, Ray Pope. The couple was only two days away from celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary. They moved to Pampa in 1967 and have been a part of the community ever since. She held many jobs during her life, some of which included working for IRI for nearly 10 years, Heard-Jones drug store, Dairy Queen, and Pampa ISD.

One of her favorite things to do was work in the yard. She would garden, plant flowers in the flower beds, and dig up weeds, which was a certain type of therapy for her. She passed down this special therapy to her children. She also loved to cook for her family and enjoyed her trips with Ray to the Cabot Ranch, where they would spend several weeks out of the year.

She worked tirelessly to feed and provide for her family. She was so proud to see all of her grandchildren graduate from high school. All children were precious in her eyes, but she had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a greatgranddaughter Layla Faye; sister Dorothy Long; and brother Bobby Don Hull.
