FREDERICKSBURG -Mona Idelle Elmore, of Fredericksburg, formerly of Stanton, died May 5, 2023, at the age of 84. She was born on Sept. 3, 1938, in Cherokee. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles 'Chuck' Elmore and parents RT and Margert Altizer.
She is survived by her son Mitch Elmore (Donna) of Fredericksburg, and two daughters Nan Pittman (Kevin) of Wolfforth, and Kaki Elemento (Ernie) of Dalton, Georgia, nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She graduated from Cherokee High School. She married Chuck in 1959 in Cherokee and then graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1961.
She was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church in Stanton and served in many roles in support of the church. She retired from teaching at Stanton ISD in 2001, after 40 years of service.
She loved quilting and has made many quilts including a high school graduation and wedding quilts for all her grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, on May 11, 2023 at 11 a.m., in Stanton, and Memorial services at First Methodist Church in Cherokee, on May 13, at 11 a.m.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to First United Methodist Church of Stanton, Martin County Senior Center in Stanton, or Hill Country Memorial Hospice in Fredericksburg.
