STANTON - Peggy Joyce McCormick Smith,75 of Stanton, died on July 29, 2023, in Midland. Graveside services were Aug. 2 at Evergreen Cemetery Chapel in Stanton, with Brother Eddy Elliott officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were her grandsons, Anthony Garcia, Matthew Garcia, Joshua Garcia, Timothy Smith, Tucker Smith, Nathaniel Clanton, and Skyler Mulkey. She was born Feb. 1, 1948, in Lamesa, to John Paul McCormick and Marilyn Bunch Carr.
She graduated from Stanton High School and worked many different jobs to include 7-Eleven, for 25 years. Her interaction with customers was impeccable you would always be greeted with a heartfelt smile and warm hello.
She was married to Billy Moffett Smith Sr. on December 3, 1965, for 30 years where they created a family of five Ronnie Smith, Sandra Jimenez, Tommy Smith, Carol Lane, and Summer Clanton.
She loved to decorate cakes, spend time with her family, play card games, and dominoes. If you know her well, you knew her passion for collecting owls.
She was proceeded in death by her father JP McCormick, mother Marilyn Bunch Carr, her brothers Butch and Bobby McCormick, an Aunt Billie McFarland and her ex-husband Bill Smith Sr. and two grandsons Shane Mulkey and Shawn Mulkey.
Survivors include her daughters Sandra Jimenez and husband Jaime of Deming, New Mexico, Carol Lane and husband Jerry of Midland, and Summer Clanton and husband Jeramy of Stanton; sons Ronnie Smith of Stanton and Tommy Smith of San Angelo; 10 grandchildren, three step-grandkids, nine great-grandchildren, and three step-great grandchildren.
