STANTON - Juanita Avalos beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died on Dec. 19, 2023. She was born on Nov. 15, 1936, in Robstown, to Trinidad Rubio Sr. and Petra Tanguma.
She met the love of her life Pedro in Stanton. Their 40 years of marriage were filled with love, laughter and countless cherished memories with each other and their children. She worked at Stanton ISD for many years and retired in 2000. She took pride in her work and formed lasting bonds with her coworkers and students. She was a warm-hearted and caring individual who touched the lives of many. She will forever be remembered for her smile and kindness to everyone she met. She was a devoted grandmother who cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Their presence brought an unmistakable sparkle to Juanita’s eyes. She treasured every moment shared with them. The memories of these precious times will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her husband Pedro Avalos Sr.; daughters Jesusa Valenzuela, Linda Salcedo, Margie Dominguez, and Janie Martinez; granddaughter Cynthia Martinez; parents Trinidad and Petra Rubio Sr; brothers Frank Rubio, and Trinidad Rubio Jr. and sisters Amelia Rubio and Emilia Olguin.
Survivors include her son Pedro “Pete” Avalos Jr. and wife Cathy; daughter Anita Avalos-Sanchez and husband Oscar; brother Juan Rubio; sisters Teresa Booth, Lupe Mendoza, and Valentina Cazares; grandchildren Pete Dominguez, Paul Dominguez, Danny Dominguez, Jennifer Bender, Donna Martinez, Christopher “Chris” Avalos, Briana Avalos, Sarah Walker, and Francisco “Frankie” Sanchez, 17 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
As we mourn the loss of an extraordinary woman, we also celebrate a life well lived, one that has left an everlasting mark on all those who had the privilege of crossing paths with Juanita. A visitation will be Dec. 21, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary starting at 7 p.m. at Stanton Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 22, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
In remembrance of Juanita’s life, the family is asking in lieu of flowers to consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
