SPRING BRANCH - Dora Aguirre Scott, 71 of Spring Branch, died Dec. 25, 2023. She was born Aug. 27, 1952, to the late Cruz and Eufemia Aguirre of Stanton. With a storyteller’s heart and an amazing memory Dora would always share her fond memories of her childhood adventures growing up in Stanton, being the youngest of nine and traveling across America to various states with her family who were at times seasonal migrant workers. She would reminisce embracing life’s simple joys, persevering through the difficult times and holding steadfast to her faith of Jesus Christ along the way.
After leaving high school in Stanton and working at Texas Instruments in Midland for several years, a servant’s heart led her to the healthcare industry where she worked at Midland Memorial Hospital as a certified nurse’s assistant and in private home health care for many years where her compassion for helping others was seen and felt by all those around her. The small pleasures in life brought much joy to her.
As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend she dearly loved investing quality time with family and friends, gardening, traveling, catching a good movie, feeding her loved ones with delicious homemade dishes like her family favorite “Louie’s enchiladas” and having great conversations at the kitchen table while indulging in something sweet. Blessed with a beautiful spirit and great sense of humor she would make new friends out of strangers everywhere she went with her kind smile and optimistic attitude towards life. She will be deeply missed but her legacy will carry on forever reminding us to act out a meaningful life of grace, forgiveness, compassion, love and joy, just as Christ modeled for us.
She is preceded in death by her father Cruz Aguirre and mother Eufemia Aguirre of Stanton, her spouse Richard Morris Scott of Midland, and stepson Michael Scott of Midland.
