EARTH - Mary Kate Belew (Ramseur), lovingly known as Katy, was called home to be with the Lord on Jan. 2, 2025. She was born on Sept. 20, 1939 to Dave and Blanche Ramseur in Brownfield. She grew up on a farm in Tokio, and shortly after high school she met the love of her life, Edward Robert “Bob” Belew, and they were married on Oct. 2, 1959. They made their home in Earth, where Bob joined his father in the ginning and farming business, and Katy owned and operated a gift shop.
Katy will be fondly remembered for playing the piano and organ. She volunteered and performed for the Earth United Methodist Church for 25 years, played at multiple functions and celebrations for the Springlake-Earth community, and gave piano lessons to many youth. In 1986 Katy and Bob moved to Grand Prairie, where Katy lived life fully with family and friends, and worked in several different facets of the workforce until recently relocating to Kerrville, to reside with her son Biff and his family.
In addition to Katy’s musical talents, she will always be remembered for her keen eye for fashion, her dramatic jewelry, as well as her love of the color pink. Her sense of style was just one aspect of the vibrant personality that endeared her to all who knew her. Described as kind-hearted and loving, Katy touched the lives of many with her friendliness, warmth and compassion.
She is survived by her three children, Brene Belew-LaDue (Peter LaDue) from Granby, Colorado; Biff (Elizabeth) Belew from Kerrville; and Bart (Charlene) Belew from Garden City. Grandchildren include Dusty (Brianna) Walker, Blaine (Brittney) Walker, Jacob Belew, Colton (Shaelin) Belew, and Emma Belew-LaDue. Great-grandchildren are Cooper Walker, Sadey Walker, Hayes Walker, Beau Belew, and baby girl Walker due March 2025. Other loved-ones include sisterin- law Beth Phifer, niece Peri Phifer, and nephew Jerry Don Huckabee.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bob; parents Dave and Blanche Ramseur; in-laws Hershel and Golda Belew; brother Patrick (Ruth) Ramseur; brother-in-law Ray Phifer; niece Panda Phifer; nephew Phil Phifer; and great-grandson Hutton Walker.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dusty Walker, Blaine Walker, Jacob Belew and Colton Belew, with her greatgrandsons,
His strong work ethic and will to win has been passed on to his children and grandchildren whom he was so proud of. If you knew him, you knew he loved his family with his entire being.
He is survived by wife Marilyn; son Kevin and wife Mandy Newman of Stanton; daughter Kody and husband Lonnie Horwood of Sterling City; bonus son Rusty and wife Melinda Allred of Graham. Also grandchildren Dakota Newman of Stanton, Flint and wife Maggie Newman of Stanton, Tristan Himes of Sterling City, Katlin and Valerie Horwood of Sterling City, Carly and Sam Janca of San Angelo, Tate Horwood of Sterling City, Trisha and Reggie Halfmann of Garden City; great grandchildren Grayson Halfmann, Keller Halfmann, Hazel Halfmann, Beckett Janca, Crew Janca, and Scottie Horwood; brother Fred and wife Debra Newman of Del Rio; nephews Tye and Kacie Newman of San Angelo, Robby Newman and Texana Woodward of Pleasanton; great nieces and nephews Rylin Newman and Reagan Newman.
He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Kawana Newman, son Kendall Newman, and nephew Clinton Newman.

The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Eli Garrido at 11 a.m. on Jan. 21, 2025 at the Earth Methodist Church, Earth, with the burial to follow at the Earth Memorial Cemetery. Fellowship will take place at the church hall with the family after interment.
