Stanton can’t keep pace with Idalou

IDALOU – The Stanton Buffaloes started last Friday’s district competition with No. 13 Idalou on a strong note, but as the game wore on the Wildcats picked up steam and rolled to a 41-6 victory at Reddell Field in Idalou.

Junior high Kats thump TLCA

GARDEN CITY - The junior high Bearkats picked up another win last week with a 31-12 performance against Midland TLCA. Scoring plays for Garden City were: Robert Almazan seven yard pass from Presley Jost; Miles Halfmann 17 yard pass from Uziel Lopez.

Irion County beats Bearkats

GARDEN CITY - Irion County was too much for the junior varsity Bearkats last Thursday winning a close contest 46-30. Preston Dehlinger scored the Bearkat’s first points with a five yard run. Blain Walts would add another six points with a 15 touchdown reception thrown by Levi Easterling .

Garden City destroy Marfa for homecoming victory

GARDEN CITY – It’s a good thing Garden City crowned its homecoming queen before the game since the contest with Marfa on Friday ended at halftime due to 45-point mercy rule. The Bearkats were in high gear from the first whistle to the final buzzer.

JV Bearkats hold off Renegades

GARDEN CITY – The Garden City junior varsity football team won a 46-38 shootout last Thursday over the Permian Basin varsity Renegades. Preston Dehlinger put Garden City on the board first with a 34-yard touchdown run. Alan Luna converted the kick fo an 8-0 lead.

Wildcats run wild at district

GRADY - Grady varsity girls finished second as a team and the boys placed third as a team to advanced to Regionals. Hagan O’Donnell placed fifth as an individual and Logan Aaron placed seventh to both qualify individually for regionals.

Stanton downs Coahoma 30-17

STANTON – The Stanton Buffaloes overcame a slow start to get their first district win of the season with an impressive comeback performance for a 30-17 victory over Coahoma, Friday night at Buffalo Stadium in Stanton. The first offensive and defensive possessions for Stanton ended miserably.

White-tailed deer season outlook strong

WEST TEXAS - Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) biologists say that 2021-22 is expected to be a whitetailed deer season for the books. Last year, the overall white-tailed deer population was estimated to be 5.4 million deer.
