GARDEN CITY - Irion County was too much for the junior varsity Bearkats last Thursday winning a close contest 46-30. Preston Dehlinger scored the Bearkat’s first points with a five yard run. Blain Walts would add another six points with a 15 touchdown reception thrown by Levi Easterling .

Garden City destroy Marfa for homecoming victory

GARDEN CITY – It’s a good thing Garden City crowned its homecoming queen before the game since the contest with Marfa on Friday ended at halftime due to 45-point mercy rule. The Bearkats were in high gear from the first whistle to the final buzzer.

JV Bearkats hold off Renegades

GARDEN CITY – The Garden City junior varsity football team won a 46-38 shootout last Thursday over the Permian Basin varsity Renegades. Preston Dehlinger put Garden City on the board first with a 34-yard touchdown run. Alan Luna converted the kick fo an 8-0 lead.

Wildcats run wild at district

GRADY - Grady varsity girls finished second as a team and the boys placed third as a team to advanced to Regionals. Hagan O’Donnell placed fifth as an individual and Logan Aaron placed seventh to both qualify individually for regionals.

STANTON – The Stanton Buffaloes overcame a slow start to get their first district win of the season with an impressive comeback performance for a 30-17 victory over Coahoma, Friday night at Buffalo Stadium in Stanton. The first offensive and defensive possessions for Stanton ended miserably.

White-tailed deer season outlook strong

WEST TEXAS - Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) biologists say that 2021-22 is expected to be a whitetailed deer season for the books. Last year, the overall white-tailed deer population was estimated to be 5.4 million deer.

Stanton falls to Lubbock in district opener

LUBBOCK – The Stanton Buffaloes opened the District 4-AAA season on the road with Lubbock Roosevelt on Friday. It was a very difficult game for the Buffaloes on both sides of the ball as the Eagles defending its home turf with a 54-2 victory.

Junior high Buffaloes dominance continues

STANTON - The Stanton junior high football teams remain undefeated with following wins over Lubbock Roosevelt last Thursday. The 7th grade won 30-0 and the 8th grade won 20-14. Both groups played very hard and executed at an extremely high level.

Second quarter dooms Grady in loss to Buena Vista

GRADY – A hiccup in the second quarter kept Grady from a home victory over Buena Vista last Friday at M.W. Tunnell Field in Grady. The Wildcats started strong answering Buena Vista point for point in the first quarter.
