Buffs fall to Abernathy, must beat Reagan County

ABERNATHY – The Stanton Buffaloes continued with their brutal district schedule last Friday night with a trip north to No. 10 Abernathy. The Antelopes were as good as advertised beating the Buffaloes 40-7.

STANTON – The PBYFL Stanton Junior Buffaloes had a perfect first round of the playoffs with all four teams advancing to this weekend’s second round. The Flag Buffaloes finished second in the regular season which earned them a first round bye.

STANTON – The football season has boiled down to one final district game for the Stanton Buffaloes. Currently sitting in fourth in District 4 AAA-DII, the Buffaloes can clinch a state playoff spot for the first time since 2017 with a win Friday night over Reagan County.

Junior High Buffaloes take down Abernathy

ABERNATHY - Stanton’s seventh grade Buffaloes outscored Abernathy 48-34 to stay unbeaten on the season and the eighth grade Buffaloes cruised to a 20-6 win to improve to 4-3 on the season. For the seventh graders, Brian Dominguez and Angel Sifuentes scored scored one touchdown apiece.

Grady comes up short to Red Devils, looks to bounce back against Bearkats

RANKIN – Grady opened District 6-A with a road loss to favorite No. 6 Rankin. The Wildcats kept pace with the Red Devils early on but as the game progressed the margin of victory widened as well eventually falling 81-33. Hunter McAnally completed four passes for 68 yards and a touchdown.

Buffaloes, Wildcats, Bearkats end cross country season at Regionals

LUBBOCK – Cross country season came to an end on Monday with runners from Stanton, Grady, and Garden City competing at the Region I meet at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock. In high school cross country, the girls division runs a distance of two miles and the boys will cover three miles.

Seventh grade Buffaloes keep winning, eighth grade has stalled

STANTON – The Stanton seventh grade picked up two more crushing wins with a 38-8 performance against Coahoma and a 22-14 victory over Idalou. Against Coahoma, Jayden Hinojosa had three touchdowns while Isaac Palomo and Vayden Pastrana added one touchdown each.

GARDEN CITY - The junior high Bearkats picked up another win last week with a 31-12 performance against Midland TLCA. Scoring plays for Garden City were: Robert Almazan seven yard pass from Presley Jost; Miles Halfmann 17 yard pass from Uziel Lopez.
