Stanton, Grady, Garden City excited for new seasons

WEST TEXAS - Football season is finally here as teams all across the state took the field for the first practices of 2021. At Stanton, coach Cody Hogan reported 57 kids the first week.

MARTIN COUNTY - Many athletes from Stanton and Grady have been hitting the gym this summer in preparation for their upcoming football and cross county seasons. “We have averaged over 30 boys and 30 girls showing up to workouts each day,” said Stanton Athletic Director Cody Hogan.

JOURDANTON — Shiner waited 17 years to get back to the state tournament. The Comanches weren’t about to let some bad weather deter their opportunity.

Redneck Metal Buildings is a big supporter of the Chamber and other businesses. Redneck Metal Buildings hosted their first Redneck Roundup Car and Truck Show April 10th with a huge attendance. Redneck Roundup raised $50,000 and donated it to the charity “Gifts of Hope” serving cancer patients and their families offering support, lodging, information and networking.

AUSTIN - Martin County has been represented well at the state level for several weeks with the most recent being on May 25-26 at the State UIL Speech and Debate tournament. Debate is the League’s longest-running contest, dating back to 1910.
