WEST TEXAS — Despite a drop in the number of traffic crashes throughout the year, 2020 saw a spike in the number of fatalities overall and deaths of people in Texas from not wearing a seat belt. That’s why TxDOT is reminding everyone that buckling up is the best defense in a crash.

ABILENE – Stanton’s regional qualifiers, Ashton Smith and Max Lopez, competed at the Region I Class AAA Track and Field Meet at Abilene Christian University on April 23. Lopez ran the 400 Meter and finished with a 53.05. Smith placed fifth in the shot put with a personal best heave of 48-02.50.

Stanton’s Lady Buffaloes are co-district runners up and earned a spot in the state playoffs. Stanton lost the seeding game 8 to 1 against Reagan County Monday night, putting the team as the three seed coming out of district. The Lady Buffs will be play Ballinger at 6 p.m. Apr. 29 in Sweetwater.
