GRADY – Grady’s varsity boys basketball team has dug themselves a large hole to climb out of after dropping district games to Sands and Klondike. Last Friday, Grady wrapped up the first round of district competition with a tough loss to Sands.

GRADY - Grady’s varsity girls basketball team split its two district games this week. The single win keeps the Wildcats in the hunt for a playoff spot. On Friday, Sands took control of the game early and ran off with the 52-27 victory.

Junior high Buffs battle rival Coahoma

STANTON – The junior high Buffaloes went toe to toe with the Coahoma Bulldogs on Monday. The seventh grade girls B team lost a close game in overtime 10-8. Nataly Duarte led Stanton with four points while Hannah Montanez an Zoe Martel added two points each.

STANTON – The Lady Buffs looked spectacular against Odessa but struggled in their next two contests against Sonora and Crane. Odessa Compass had little chance at victory as Stanton’s defense was at the top of its game. The Buffs scored 44 straight points and went on to win 48-4.

ANDREWS – Divers from across the Permian Basin converged on Andrews to compete in the UIL District 4-5A Dive and Swim Championships. Ethan Coronado was the lone representative from Stanton High School and easily won the boys dive division. Coronado finished the prelims with a score of 156.

COAHOMA – Stanton’s power lifter were in Coahoma over the weekend for the first competition of the 2021 season. The girls team finished fourth in the team standings and the boys team took second behind Big Spring. Girls' Results 132 lb. Class 1. Nicole Hill – 580 total 165 lb. Class 1.

Stanton, Coahoma go head-to-head

STANTON – The Stanton high school basketball teams hosted the Coahoma Bulldogs last Tuesday in district competition. The junior varsity girls had a slow start falling behind 30-11 by halftime.

Grady soars past Eagles, stays in playoff hunt

GRADY – The Grady varsity boys hosted Midland TLCA on Tuesday in a game where boys teams needed to win to stay in the playoff hunt. Grady opened the game with back to back 11 point quarters but Midland stayed on the Wildcat’s heals with 19 points to trail at halftime 22-19.

Stanton freshmen teams pick up impressive wins

STANTON – Both of Stanton’s freshmen teams were in action over the past week and both notched wins on their season record belts. The Lady Buffs battled Ozona late last week.

GRADY – Grady’s junior high Wildcats flexed their muscles on Midland TLCA and Sands with a pair of impressive performances. Against TLCA, the Wildcats scored seven points in both the first and second quarter for a 14-6 halftime lead.
