Sands claims top spot in district with win over Grady

GRADY – Two Class A juggernauts clashed Monday night on Grady High School’s Tony Sawyer Memorial Court. No. 6 Grady hosted No. 8 Sands in a Top 10 match-up of teams with only three losses each on the season. Sands took advantage of multiple second chance opportunities to win 38-23.

Grady beats Klondike 32-21

GRADY – The Grady junior high boys’ basketball team beat Klondike 32-21 Monday night in Grady. The Wildcats opened with the game with their best quarter of 10 points to take a six-point lead.

Grady junior varsity loses two this week

GRADY – It was a rough week for Grady’s junior varsity boys as they lost two games to Hermleigh and Westbrook. The first game back from Christmas break was a 57-24 loss to Hermleigh. Austin Aaron scored a team high 13 points while Austin Snider had five, Cobe Cortez three and Colt Carson three.

GRADY – Grady’s varsity and junior varsity girls started off 2020 with two big wins against Westbrook.

Stanton Junior High battles Colorado City, Forsan

COLORADO CITY – Stanton’s junior high basketball teams traveled to Colorado City last week for the first games since Christmas break and was in action this week against Forsan. Last week, the seventh grade boys B team lost to CCity. C. Gleghorn scored Stanton’s only two points.

Lady Buffs district woes continue with two more losses

STANTON – District troubles continued this week for Stanton’s varsity girls as they narrowly lost a road game to Coahoma last Friday and could keep pace with Jim Ned at home at home one Tuesday.

Varsity Wildcats are getting healthy, look to get back to winning

GRADY – Grady’s varsity boys’ basketball team has struggled over the past few weeks with injuries and added three more losses to the season record. On Jan. 3, Hermleigh took no prisoners in a 60-33 performance on its home court.

Coahoma, Jim Ned top Stanton in district games

STANTON – District action is in full swing this week with Coahoma and Jim Ned handing Stanton two losses. Coahoma barley held home court with a 45-43 victory. Stanton took a five-point lead early in the game but Coahoma chipped it away over the next 24 minutes to steal the victory.

Junior high Wildcats slip past Klondike, 25-22

GRADY – Grady’s junior high girls defeated Klondike 25-22 Monday in Grady in the first game back after the holiday break. Elena Jimenez tossed in eight points for Grady and Tatum North chipped in with five.

Stanton rallies to beat Clyde 46-45

STANTON - The Lady Buffs rallied from a double digit deficit to beat Clyde Tuesday night in Stanton. Stanton started off slow scoring just 16 points in the first half. Clyde was hitting almost everything for a 28 point half.
