Junior varsity Buffs win, lose district games by the narrowest of margins

STANTON – The Lady Buffaloes junior varsity basketball team had two super close games before Christmas break with Stanton winning one game by one point and losing the other by one point. On Dec. 17, Stanton traveled to Anson for the first district game of the season.
Stanton beat Pecos in the Hooptown Classic at Stanton High School. The Lady Buffs host Colorado City on Friday and will play in the Caprock Classic on Dec. 27 & 28.

JV Buffs fill in and Hooptown Classic

STANTON – Stanton’s junior varsity basketball team was not on the original roster for the Pinky Jones Hooptown Classic but after some teams failed to show, the Buffs answered the call to go head-to-head against varsity competition. Stanton opened the tournament against Wink’s varsity.

Borden beats Grady 51-18

BORDEN COUNTY - The Borden County Coyotes got the best of the Grady Wildcats Monday night with a 51-18 victory. Grady had the lead after the first quarter but that was the last time the Wildcats were in front as Borden County found its offensive rhythm and was almost unstoppable.

Grady competes in Ira Bulldog Tournament

IRA - The Grady varsity boys basketball team competed in the Ira Bulldog Tournament over the weekend. Grady started the weekend against O’Donnell. The Wildcats played well in the first half but everything fell apart in the second half allowing O’Donnel a 55-31 victory.

Grady junior high drops two games

BORDEN COUNTY - Grady 7th & 8th grade took losses at Borden County on Monday. 7th grade lost 51-7. Selig Burge scored four, Ariana Rodriguez one, Rylan O'Donnell one, and Nayce McMorries one. 8th grade lost 48-13. Elena Jimenez had eight, Samantha Griffin three, and Tatum North two.

STANTON – Stanton’s varsity boys’ basketball team finished third in the Pinky Jones Hooptown Classic over the weekend at Stanton High School. The Buffs blew past Wink to open the tournament but fell short against Hereford to finish pool play with the second seed.

Freshman fall to Hillcrest 54-42

MIDLAND - Stanton’s freshman basketball team traveled to Midland on Tuesday to battle Hillcrest. Hillcrest took the early 14-7 lead and had a 24-13 advantage. The Buffs performed better in the second half but Hillcrest was too tough winning 54-42. R. Andler led Stanton with 16 points and E.

Stanton hosts annual Pinky Jones Hooptown Clasic

STANTON – The Stanton varsity girls’ basketball team hosted the Pinky Jones Hooptown Classic over the weekend at Stanton High School. The Lady Buffs opened the tournament with a tough Wink team on Thursday night.

Wildcats claim consolation crown at Wink Tourney

WINK - The Grady Junior Varsity Lady Cats competed in the Wink Junior Varsity Tournament this past weekend. The Lady Cats played four games winning three and losing one to claim the Consolation Championship part of the bracket. In the first game, the Lady Cats beat Crane JV 29-10.

No. 19 Grady wins another tournament

IRA - Grady’s Lady Cats varsity won the Ira Tournament last weekend. Grady opened the tournament against a talent O’Donnell team. The Lady Cats trailed by 15 points early in the second half but an impressive run earned Grady a 56-44 win. Raina Short finished with a game high 35 points.
