Stanton falls to Anson

STANTON - Stanton was doomed from the start in last week’s district game with Anson. The Lady Buffs were not able to score any points in the first quarter allowing Anson to take a 12 point lead.

Wildcats crowned consolation champions in tournament

GRADY - The Grady 7th grade Lady Cats competed in the Grady Junior High Tournament this past weekend. The 7th grade Lady Cats struggled in the first round losing to Garden City 46-2, but bounced back defeating Forsan 22-13 in the second round.

Sands gets the better of Grady, twice

SANDS – Grady’s two junior high boy’s games against Sands on Jan. 20 were both narrow losses. The seventh grade Wildcats had a commanding 7-2 lead at halftime, but an outstanding quarter by Sands allowed the Mustangs to take a 10-9 advantage after the third quarter.

Borden County beats Grady; Wildcats top Bearkats

GRADY – A tough loss to Borden County and an impressive surge to beat Garden City gives Grady a 1-1 record during the first round of district action. On Jan. 17, the Wildcats hit the road and headed east to battle the Coyotes of Borden County.

COAHOMA – Stanton’s powerlifting teams have been improving each week and this week’s meet in Coahoma was no exception. All 10 lifters posted total weights higher than their previous totals in Colorado City.

STANTON – Stanton’s freshmen teams were in action against Midland TLCA and Jim Ned earlier this month. The ninth grade girls team crushed Midland 35-17 on Jan. 7. The Buffs started slow scoring only five points in the first quarter.

RANKIN - The Grady junior varsity competed in the Rankin Tournament this past weekend. The Lady Cats were able to play four competitive games in two days the finish third overall. The Lady Cats started the tournament with a win, beating Buena Vista 18-12.

Lady Cats split with Borden County, Garden City to stay in playoff hunt

GRADY - Grady’s varsity girls played Borden County and Garden CIty over the last week and split the two contests to stay in the Class A playoff hunt. The recent losing skid has dropped Grady to No. 24 in the recent Texas Association Basketball Coaches rankins.

STANTON – In the world of sports, sometimes a team wins and other times they lose. That’s how the past few weeks have been for Stanton’s junior varsity basketball teams. The games started on Jan. 7 against Clyde in Stanton. Stanton’s girls dominated Clyde from start to finish.

Stanton’s Smith wins gold at C-City powerlifting meet

COLORADO CITY - Ashton Smith turned a few heads Saturday at the Colorado City High School powerlifting meet on Jan. 18 by lifting a total of 1,360 in his weight class. His effort was enough for the Stanton High School Buffalo to finish in 1st place in his weight class.
