Klondike beats Grady, Lady Cats crush Loop

– The Grady varsity girls played two district games last week, splitting the wins with Klondike and Loop. The game against Klondike was a struggle for the Lady Cats. Klondike took a commanding 19-6 lead after the first quarter and was up 29-12 at the half.

Junior high Wildcats continue to improve

– The Grady junior high Wildcats competed in the Garden City tournament over the weekend and then returned home on Monday to host the Klondike Cougars. Both junior high teams played in the Garden City Tournament. The seventh grade Wildcats started the weekend with a 25-10 loss to Wink.

Junior varsity Wildcats finish third

– It was a busy weekend for the Grady Wildcats junior varsity basketball team as they competed in the Forsan Tournament and finish third. Grady opened the tournament against Sterling City. The Eagles kept the game close throughout but a late surge gave Grady the 3124 victory.

Lady Kats split two district games

– The Lady Bearkats split their district games this past week with Irion County and Blackwell. Against Irion County, Garden City had one off quarter and it proved to be the difference in the game.

Wildcats start district play with two wins

– The Grady Wildcats are off to a good start in District winning their first two games by comfortable margins. Last Friday, Grady opened district against Loop. The Wildcats went on an 18-7 first quarter run and had an 30-13 halftime lead.

Lady Buff powerlifters take second in Forsan

– Powerlifting is back in session as the strongest Stanton Buffaloes headed east to compete in the Forsan Powerlifting Meet. The Lady Buffs finished second as a team after capturing three gold medals, two silver, and a bronze.

Irion County tops Garden City in district opener

– The Garden City Bearkats opened district play last week with games against Irion County and Blackwell. It’s been several weeks but the Bearkats finally had another bitter taste of defeat. In the district opener No. 4 Irion County and No.

Junior varsity Buffs pick up some big wins

– Stanton Buffaloes junior varsity has been playing well recently. In the middle of December, Stanton crushed Forsan 46-28. Cazares led the team with 17 points and Armendarez added 13 points. Thompson scored eight points while Stovall had two and Marquez tossed in six.

- The Stanton middle school girls basketball teams took on Alpine last week and battled Kermit on Monday. Against Alpine, Stanton’s seventh grade B team won 16 – 14 while the A team fell short 42-29.

Lady Cats take second in Grady Tournament

- The Grady Junior High Lady Cats participated in the annual Grady Junior High tournament this past weekend and finished second. Grady opened the tournament against Jal B. The Lady Cats jumped out to an early first quarter lead and held on for the 32-15 win.
