Buffaloes take on tough competition at Caprock Classic

– The Stanton Buffaloes up and down season continued this past weekend at the Caprock Classic in Lubbock. The topsy turvy right is not game to game but half to half and sometimes quarter to quarter. Stanton opened the tournament against the Alpine Bucks.

Wildcats finish up pre-season, ready for district play

– The Grady Wildcats highs and lows continued this past week splitting their games with Midessa and Holy Cross. Last week Grady hosted a very talented Midessa Warriors team. The two schools battled in the first half with Grady getting the slightest 22-20 halftime lead.

Bearkats top 20 wins after crushing Klondike 79-52

GARDEN CITY – The No. 9 ranked Garden City Bearkats improved to 20-3 after dismantling Klondike 79-52. The Bearkats were led by sophomore guard Texas Brinley with 29 points and junior guard Julio Talamantes added 17 points.

Wildcats sweep Jal in new year openers

GRADY - In the first game of the NewYear, Grady’s high school basketball teams hosted Jal New Mexico. The Lady Cats started off slow but used a strong second quarter to pull away from Jal for a 27-15 halftime lead. The second half was all Grady as the Lady Cats cruised to the 55-29 win.

Grady rides win streak into Christmas break

GRADY - The Grady Lady Cats go into the Christmas break with two wins, a five game winning streak, and a 10-5 overall record. The jv Lady Cats lost two tough contests. “I am proud of how hard these girls play. They continue to get better each game,” stated coach Jym Dennis.

Stanton junior varsity looks good early

STANTON – The Buffaloes junior varsity basketball team had a great start to the season winning four out of five games. Stanton started with big 35-29 win over Ozona. The Buffaloes trailed by two points at halftime but used a monstrous fourth quarter rally to steal the victory.

No. 9 Bearkats continue strong play

GARDEN CITY – No. 9 Garden City picked up two more wins this past week. On Friday, No. 17 Grady and No. 9 Garden City, went head-to-head again just three days after Garden City won a nail biter at the Bearkat Klassic.

Lady Buffs win Hooptown Classic

STANTON - The Stanton varsity girls basketball team won all four of their games at the Hooptown Classic to win the championship for the second straight year. Stanton opened the tournament against Colorado City.
