Several local athletes named academic all state

- Several athletes from around the area have been recognized by the Texas Army national Guard and the Texas High School Coaches Association as Academic All-State Recipients. The students’ performance in the classroom can sometimes be difficult to manage while participating in athletics.

– Stanton’s junior high girls’ basketball teams have been busy the past two weeks with games against Crane and Odessa Compass. The Lady Buffs hosted Crane last week and looked impressive in all the contests. The seventh grade A Lady Buffs demolished Crane 43-4.

GARDEN CITY Basketball season if off to a great start in Garden City with all four of the girls’ programs undefeated heading into Thanksgiving Break. The Garden City varsity Lady Kats have sprinted out to a 4-0 record with blowout wins against Iraan, McCamey, Odessa Compass, and Grape Creek.

GRADY - It was a good week for Wildcat basketball with multiple teams earning victories over some stiff competition. The Grady varsity Lady Cats picked up two wins this past week improving to 3-1 heading into Thanksgiving Break. The first win was an impressive 54-33 drumming of Rankin.

GRADY – Basketball season is officially underway for the Grady sub-varsity Wildcats. The seventh grade Wildcats started the season with a massive 34-4 victory over Klondike. “We took a district win against Klondike to open the season.

GRADY – Basketball season is underway for the high school and junior high Lady Wildcats. Grady’s varsity team split its first two games with Westbrook and Ira. In the opener against Westbrook a slow start hampered Grady’s efforts losing 33-26.

GRADY – The Grady Wildcats have started the season off with two straight victories over the Midessa Warriors and San Angelo Cornerstone. On Nov. 11, Grady took on the Midessa Warriors and won a close hard-fought contest.
