GRADY – After opening District 8-1A with a victory, the Grady Lady Wildcats dropped the next two games to slip to 1-2 in district play. Last week Grady had the almost impossible task of beating No. 1 Sands. The Mustangs were in good form taking a 39-4 lead by halftime.

Junior high Wildcats had a busy week

GRADY – It’s been a busy week for the Grady junior high boys’ basketball teams. On Jan. 15, the Grady A boys went 1-1 at the Garden City Junior High tournament.

KLONDIKE – It was a great weekend for the Stanton eighth grade boys’ basketball team which finished second in the Klondike Tournament. Stanton opened the tournament by crushing Wink 43-5. Chad Bennally had a game high 11 points and Isaiah DeLeon added 10 points.

Junior high Buffs split with Reagan County

STANTON – The Stanton seventh grade boys’ basketball teams were in action recently against Reagan County. The A team started off slow but used a huge third quarter to take a three-point lead. The Owls didn’t give up but Stanton made enough points in the final few minutes to preserve a 24- 22 win.

GRADY - The Wildcats took third place at the annual Forsan Junior Varsity Tournament. The Wildcats started the tournament with a tough win against Irion County 35- 31, and then dominated the Forsan Freshman taking the win by a score of 40-21.

Grady starts new year off with win over San Angelo

SAN ANGELO – The Grady varsity girls’ basketball team started the New Year with a victory over San Angelo Cornerstone last week in San Angelo Grady opened the game with a 13-5 run and ended the first half up 18-14.

COAHOMA – Coahoma celebrated two varsity basketball victories Tuesday night as both the Bulldogettes and Bulldogs beat District 5-3A rival Stanton at Coahoma High School. In the girl’s game, Coahoma took a 34-22 lead at halftime and went on to win 57-39.

FORSAN – Hearts were heavy this week as the Garden City Bearkats returned to action for the first time since losing teammate Ryder Gass. Garden City was on the road in Forsan on Tuesday for the final non-district game.

GRADY – The Lady Wildcats rebounded from a first round loss in the Grady Junior High Tournament last weekend to finish third. Grady started the tournament with a tough matchup againt Forsan. The Buffaloes built a 12-4 halftime lead and held off a Grady charge in the fourth quarter to win 16-10.
