Coahoma takes down Stanton, twice

COAHOMA – Coahoma celebrated two varsity basketball victories Tuesday night as both the Bulldogettes and Bulldogs beat District 5-3A rival Stanton at Coahoma High School. In the girl’s game, Coahoma took a 34-22 lead at halftime and went on to win 57-39.

Bearkats pull off emotional overtime win

FORSAN – Hearts were heavy this week as the Garden City Bearkats returned to action for the first time since losing teammate Ryder Gass. Garden City was on the road in Forsan on Tuesday for the final non-district game.

Lady Cats claim third place plaque

GRADY – The Lady Wildcats rebounded from a first round loss in the Grady Junior High Tournament last weekend to finish third. Grady started the tournament with a tough matchup againt Forsan. The Buffaloes built a 12-4 halftime lead and held off a Grady charge in the fourth quarter to win 16-10.

Grady junior high boys win consulation, second place

GRADY –Grady’s A and B boy’s teams were in action last weekend at the annual Grady Junior High Tournament. The B team had a tough first round matchup with Forsan A boys in which they lost 39-12. The boys then rebounded with a 19-15 win over Forsan C team.

Young Buffs battle Sonora, Crane

STANTON – The Stanton junior high Buffaloes were in action this past week taking on Sonora and Crane. The eighth grade A team split its two games. Against Sonora, Stanton started the game with a 13-2 run and had a 19-8 halftime lead.

Angelo State Announces Fall 2021 Dean’s List

SAN ANGELO - Angelo State University in San Angelo, has announced the students achieving the Dean’s List designation for the 2021 fall semester. To be eligible for the ASU Dean’s List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Gilbert makes South Plains Dean’s List

LEVELLAND - South Plains College announced earlier this week that Jessica Gilbert of Stanton was named to the Fall 2021 Deans' List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.25 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Wildcats finish second in Sterling City

STERLING CITY - The Grady boys basketball team strung together three strong games to finish second at the Sterling City Tournament on Dec. 30 and 31. The Wildcats opened the tournament with a great performance against the Sterling City junior varsity.

Grady had Jekyll & Hyde weekend at Sterling City Tournament

STERLING CITY - The Grady varsity girls basketball team had a roller coaster weekend at the Sterling City Tournament on Dec. 30 and 31. Grady started the tournament with a spectacular showing against Ira. The Lady Cats mauled the Lady Dogs 67-31.

Stanton splits with Sundown, Slaton

LUBBOCK - The Stanton Buffaloes last to game were thrillers until the final buzzer. The first game against Sundown didn’t start very well as the Buffs scored just three points and fell in a hole early.
