WEATHERFORD Mr. Dale Gene Ruth (Coach) passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, encouragement, and love that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Dale was born on May 6, 1945, in Weatherford, to Willie “Bill” Ruth and Lavida (Overton) Ruth. Following his college graduation, he pursued a lifelong career that combined two of his greatest passions - education and athletics. Dale devoted himself to helping young people reach their potential both on and off the field. He retired as Athletic Director of Lake Dallas Independent School District; throughout his career, he inspired countless students and athletes through his mentorship and commitment to excellence.
In 1969, Dale married the love of his life, Patty Green, beginning a devoted partnership that would span more than five decades. Together they built a life centered on family and unwavering support for one another. A faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Burleson, Dale found joy in spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and, most of all, cheering on his grandchildren as they pursued their interests and accomplishments. His steady presence, kind heart, and genuine interest in others made a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents Lavida and Bill Ruth; brother Dean Ruth; brother-in-law John Green; and his nephew Steve Green.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Patty Ruth of Burleson; daughters Kari Ruth and husband Bob Cowan, and Suzanne Woolsey and husband Brad; granddaughter, Harli Woolsey; grandson Owen Woolsey; brother Don Ruth and wife Olga; brother-in-law David Green; his nieces and nephew Donna Ruth, Doug Green, Dani Tabet; and greatnieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service to honor and celebrate Dale’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on June 11, at The First United Methodist Church of Burleson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Project PacMin (Backpack Ministry) which provides assistance to K–12 students within Burleson Independent School District who experience food insecurity at home. https://www.projectpacmin.org/ Dale will be remembered for his servant’s heart, his dedication to education and athletics, and the love he shared with his family, friends, students, church, and community. His influence will continue to be felt in the many lives he touched throughout the years.
